To the user with a question I would answer: It all depends on what you mean by "non-friendly" area. If by this you mean prohibited areas, my stern advice is to obey your state permit carry laws and the prohibitions listed there.
Or...if you mean in areas where legally allowed to carry, but perhaps politically sensitive, I'd say use good common sense and ensure you conceal well. Be aware that no one is just staring at you if your dress and act appropriately for the conditions.
Often new CCW permit holders will get what psychologists call "spotlight" syndrome where they feel as if everyone knows they are carrying and is watching them. Truth is, unless our behavior flags us for special notice, we're just not that special.
Resist the urge to touch the weapon or constantly adjust your clothes. Wear a good proper belt and holster and be sure your concealing garment is enough to cover your weapon. Conduct a "dress rehearsal" with a friend or spouse looking at you to spot any movement or printing.
And keep your permit readily accessible. If stopped do not have to reach for your wallet. Have it in an outer pocket and easily reachable.
